That’s what happens when monopoly powers are at work. Considering where I live some would say we’re lucky to have broadband at all, let alone a fast service that’s up 90+% of the time. While there’s some truth to that, it’s just as true that if we had another option we wouldn’t have been without connectivity for that long. That’s the only thing I envy about big-city life – the alternatives.
If I bother to complain I’ll get a whopping $5 back on my next month’s bill. Wow, a fiver. I’ll try not to spend it all in one place. What that shows is that Internet service is, at least over the weekend when I use it most, is worth more than the dollar per day I’m paying for it. So perhaps I shouldn’t complain.
But what is a blog without a complaint? Boring…
Every now and again I’ll have discussions with people who I’ll call liberals and they’ll try to pigeonhole me as a conservative wing nut or some such Kos-ite krap. While I do have some conservative beliefs, I’m just as much a libertarian-anarchist as a Republican.
One demonstration of my political multi-facetedness is the recent presidential poll I took that said Mitt Romney ought to get my vote for president in 2008.
Interesting that a Christian would turn up such a result, no? Perhaps it’s not so much of a stretch as all that. However, if there had been a question on the poll asking if I would exclude candidates of other, non-terroristic religions from consideration my answer would have been “No.”
Not so for many liberals, as the Texas Rainmaker blogs about here. Quoting Jason:

This, as one can plainly see when discussing liberal positions on abortion, welfare, and affirmative action, is exactly right.
Perhaps there are more liberals who hold nuanced positions than are in evidence in the blogosphere. But judging from the pinheads at Kos and other liberal sites the left’s agenda is set by a group of narrow-minded know-it-alls who offer about as much diversity of opinion as my local broadband carrier.
I’ve already seen the results of that monopoly. What’s being offered by liberals is far, far more damaging. For an ideology that’s supposed to be expansive and inclusive, their bigotry is rather hypocritical. America needs more choices, both in technology and in politics, not less.
