One has to wonder where the can-do, American spirit has been the last three decades. NASA is an embarassment, not for its mistakes, but for its complete lack of support from within Congress and from the American people at large.
Recently, the Houston Chronicle ran an article details ways Congress has secretly diverted NASA budget into targetted projects in local district; i.e., “Pork”. Where do people think advances in technology come from? They don’t grow on trees on Wall Street, that is fure certain. Hard work and difficult challenges breed new advances. It’s past time this country re-engaged the challenge of exploring the stars.
