by Jane Hamsher says that the Obama administration has come out with the obvious statement that gay rights is a fringe issue. Needless to say, Janie’s not happy about it.
Unfortunately, that’s true by definition: Gays make up less than 10% of the population – any initiative focused particularly in their direction is inherently fring-ish.
That said, it now appears the administration is backing away from their earlier position.
Too bad. A dose of political reality might have served notice to the bellicose left that their agenda is not only out of step with mainstream America but also with its liberal leaders.
