RE: Bill ties light rail funding to vote

Houston area Rep. John Culberson has followed in the dubious footsteps of Tom Delay by introducing a bill that would deny METRO the ability to use its funds as it sees fit.

Who exactly to Delay and Culbertson think they are? King-makers is the obvious answer. Between Delay’s interference with METRO, his recent ramrodding of state redistricting policy, and Culbertson’s complicity in handcuffing METRO to the will of Washington D.C., Houston local government is being bullied into subservience.

Why are these congressmen interferring in local politics? Has the historical seperation of federal, state, and local government no meaning to them? It’s past time that the voters reminded these representatives to whom they are accountable.

Bear in mind this letter is written by a life-long Republican. I’d sooner be caught in a bear trap than vote for a Democrat; however, it is simply ridiculous that these thugs, Delay and Culbertson, can hamstring our state and local governments.
